Book Review: A Curse for True Love (Once Upon a Broken Heart #3)

A Curse for True Love by Stephanie Garber

Quote: "She'd been wrong before. Her life hadn't been full of moments leading to the Valory Arch. Every moment of everything had brought her to this place. It had taken all the heartbreak, all the almost love and the wrong love, to know that this love was true love."

Blurb: Two villains, one girl, and a deadly battle for happily ever after.

Evangeline Fox ventured to the Magnificent North in search of her happy ending, and it seems as if she has it. She's married to a handsome prince and lives in a legendary castle. But Evangeline has no idea of the devastating price she paid for this fairytale. She doesn't know what she has lost, and her husband is determined to make sure she never finds out... but first he must kill Jacks, the Prince of Hearts.

Blood will be shed, hearts will be stolen, and true love will be put to the test in A curse for True Love, the breathlessly anticipated conclusion to the Once Upon a Broken Heart trilogy.

My Personal Views: Having just wrapped up the final installment of the Once Upon a Broken Heart series, I'm left with mixed feelings.

The tale of Evangeline and Jacks, while charming and magical, fell short of earning a five-star rating from me. Jacks' enigmatic allure and Evangeline's endearing sweetness make for an engaging story, yet it didn't quite reach the pinnacle of excellence.

Jacks, with his cool demeanor and morally ambiguous nature, contrasts beautifully with Evangeline's innocence and charm. Their journey is certainly mysterious and keeps you guessing, but it didn't quite hit the mark for me to warrant a five-star rating.

The abundance of characters and intertwined storylines made it challenging to keep track of everything, occasionally leaving me feeling lost amidst the twists and turns.

While the fairytale elements added an undeniable charm, the intricacies of the plot sometimes proved daunting. Despite this, the series as a whole still earns a respectable four-star rating from me.

Ratings: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/ 5
