Book Review: Archer's Voice

Archer's Voice by Mia Sheridan

Quote: "When a thunder-storm comes, I had told him, I'll think of you, not anything other than you. And I always did. Always."

Blurb: I wanted to lose myself in the small town of Pelion, Maine. To forget everything I had left behind. The sound of rain. The blood. The coldness of a gun against my skin. For six months, each breath has been a reminder that I survived- and my dad didn't. I'm almost safe again. But the moment I meet Archer Hale, my entire world tilts on its axis... and never rights itself again.

Until I trespass into his strange, silent, and isolated world, Archer communicated with no one. Yet in his whiskey-colored eyes, something intangible happens between us. There's so much more to him than just his beauty, his presence, or the way his hands communicate with me. On me. But this town is mired in secrets and betrayals, and Archer is the explosive center of it all. So much passion. And so much hurt. But it's in Archer's silence that we just might find what we need to heal... and to live.

My Personal Views: To be honest, I went into this books without expecting much because I had not read much about it, sure, I had heard about the book but I had not read much reviews and what it was really about. All I knew was, it is just a love story.

And sure enough, it is just a love story.

Archer's Voice includes small-town, slow-burn & abusive-past MC's tropes. We have Archer Hale & Bree Prescott as the main characters. The story is set in a small town called Pelion. Bree has come to Pelion to get away from the monsters in her past, where she meets Archer Hale- a mute guy who is basically the town's loner, events in his past also made him what he is today.

Let me tell you, Archer is so innocent in the whole story that you would just want to protect him. So, I liked him throughout the book, also Bree's character was well-written as well. Both of them were absolutely one of those couple- that just make you want to fall in love too. It is like they both were two different souls before and after they met, they became one. That is so cliché, but it suits perfectly for this couple. They both are adorable.

The story was a little bit cheesy but quite well-written.

The only reason why I gave it a three star is, because even though it was pretty good and well-written, it just did not gave me the thrill that I expect from reading a book or the thrill I experienced while reading my other five-star rated books.

Is it because for me personally- the small town book trope is a little boring? Perhaps. But I felt like, this book did not make me feel hooked that much. In conclusion, it was a great one-time read for me but not exactly something I would pick up one more time for a re-read.
